peindre comment ? (How to paint ?)

The attention to the detail

There seems to be a practice adopted by those who write about art : they store painting in compartments : classicism, neoclassicism, realism, romanticism, impressionism, futurism, cubism, to postmodernism. I don't enter in that chest of drawers.

Given the object of my paint (principally the town), I feel attracted by hyper-realism. painters like Antony Brunelly, Clive Heads, Robert Bechtle, John Baeder, David Cone, Bertrand Meniel inspire me more than the impressionistic, futuristic or expressionistic visions of the town, for example.

However I wish  to insure a kind of "thickness" to my painting (thing excluded by the hyper realistic painters, in the aim to be more close of the smooth surface of the photograph with which they  rightly claim to compete.

The town itself is not smooth. It presents asperities, roughness. We can't surf on it as we make on a wave. We don't skate on it as we make on the ice.

On the drawer into which I put my painting, we can write : "moderated hyper-realism", for example.
